From Bozeman to Cheongsong

Following a pulsating season opener in Bozeman in mid-December, the competition reaches an intense phase with events held over each of the next three weekends culminating with the season finale in Rabenstein, Italy from 29-31 January.

In Bozeman two athletes laid down an impressive marker for the season with Russian climbers Maxim Tomilov and Maria Tolokonina making a clean sweep of the male and female competitions winning both the lead and speed competitions. 

Rival athletes will need to raise their performances in Cheongsong although the challenge facing the leaders is equally daunting. Facing three gruelling competitions in as many weeks requires consistency and high levels of fitness and determination.

Cheongsong hosts both round 2 of the UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour and the Asian Championships. Leading Korean athletes including Park HeeYoung, Song Han Na Rai and Shin WoonSeon will seek to delight the passionate local crowds but face stiff competition from rival Korean climbers as well as athletes from Hong Kong, Iran, India and Japan. Over 90 athletes from 17 countries are set to participate.
