3000 km in 28 days on a scooter to Madrid

Travel light and cheap, without sponsors

During the holidays I went to Europe on a scooter. I had no sponsors, so I had to buy quality shoes, clothing, equipment, sleeping bag, sleeping mat and of course the scooter. I knew that I had to give up all comfort, secured accommodation and hot meals. My daily diet was dry bread, muesli and water.

Daily minimum on a scooter I set at 90 kilometers. When exceeding 100 kilometers in one day, I received a piece of chocolate.

In a way, I slept in a hostel or campsite, but I always slept outside in the open air or left to accommodate random locals.

I have disabled sports

I'm not a top athlete, I also moderate asthmatic with operovaným knee twice and I have disabled sports. Still, I packed everything you need and set out on the road.

Border of the Czech Republic I crossed in Brod and went to Austria, where I slept the first night in the meadow before Linz. All night it rained and I soaked, I was cold, I was sleepy, exhausted, yet I was early morning on his way. I saw the beautiful scenery of snow-capped mountain peaks.

I started each day early in the morning and ended late at night. Sometimes I went and went until midnight. During the day I had only a minimum of stops for refreshments and rest several minutes.

Over the Alps on foot or by scooter

The journey from Austria to continue on foot to climb steep grades and sharp saddle alpine descents to the valley, still farther and farther, through Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, France to Spain. In France I visited the world famous village of Taizé, where I rested one day, and then over Lyon and Valrncii went all the way to the sea to the port of La Grande-Motte, and drove up the coast in Agde.

The boundaries I crossed into Spain at Le Perthus direction of Girona and traveled 100 km to Barcelona. My route led to the city of Tarragona, where I was after one day of rest by the sea went inland over the mountains, thirteen hundred feet high, wastes and air temperature has risen above forty degrees.

The last 600 km long stretch of road to Madrid was the most challenging. I reached to the bottom of their forces, hungry and thirsty, the water was where to draw tens of kilometers.

Travelling on a scooter was my life test

Along the way I met many interesting people and experienced many different nationalities road. In Austria, it snowed in the summer, in Spain it was hot. I was in direct contact with nature, and it allowed me to perceive it. Wandering through Europe on a scooter was life test, during which I had the opportunity to reflect on life.

During the whole time I had an accident, health problems, did not use medications for asthma or a brace on the operated knee. I rode the scooter Cube, which proved to be a suitable means of transport for traveling through Europe and a large number of daily driving miles. It was reliable and simple.

Abroad scooter Kostka aroused great admiration and interest mainly because of large distances, which we passed on it.

From Spain we returned home by bus

Since the start in the Czech Republic to Madrid at Puerta del Sol to the prime kilometer all Spanish roads and highways, I drove and walked a total of 2920 km. In a way I had only one defect after driving 2720 km.

From Madrid I traveled by bus to the Czech Republic and drove 30 km on a scooter in Zlín. I finished the journey on which I rode and walked a scooter with three thousand kilometers.
