Schlag das ASS! Nassfeld

With the pistes at Carinthia's Nassfeld in top conditions, the world's longest skiing race was held on Saturday, 28^th February 2015. Under the motto Beat the best, more than 500 amateur sportsmen and sportswomen as well as many well-known personalities took part in the chase for the Nassfeld Trophy.

The Carinthian sportsman Josef Durnik triumphed with the best time of 0:46:43,2 at the race, which was held for the sixth time. With a length of 26 km, the race holds a record itself and has been entered into the Guinness Book of Records. The Austrian sportsman Burkhard Bär with a time of 0:46:53,9 reached rank 2. The Austrian skiing-legend Hans Enn crossed the finishing line at 0:47:03,0 and won bronze.

TV presenter Armin Assinger, former top ski racer as well as the contest's patron and namesake, despite the serious accident last week, insisted on visiting the finish area and to carry out the award ceremony.

Nicole Galle was the winner among the female athletes, achieving a best time of 0:48:22,9. The second and third place were taken by Alexandra Grabner from Austria (0:49:01.9) and the sportswoman from Italy Giusy Rottonara (0:50:05,8). The fastest team was the Kleine Zeitung Team 1 (3:12:28,9), ranking second and third were the Möllrokets and the Finanzsportverein  Kärnten 1 with 3:16:01,8 and 3:16:11,3  respectively. The fasted racer from the Czech Republic was Petr Stefka (number 430), achieving a time of 0:53:44,5 and reached rank 217.

The world's longest skiing race attracted again many well-known personalities: Slovenian skiing star Bojan Krizaj (rank 56), Ö3-DJ Alex List (rank 136), Austrian skiing star Hans Enn (rank 3), Christoph Schmölzer (rank 32), winner of the World Rowing Championships, and Andreas Berger (rank 178), one of the fastest 100m-sprinters of the world, were also taking part in the race.
