Types of snow:
Bony: when rocks and other landmines poke through the snow (usually in shoulder seasons) Czech: skrz jarní sníh vytávají kamenitá nebo hlinitá místa
Bulletproof: when freeze-thaw cycles have rendered a slope so hard that ski edges can’t slice it Czech: zmrzlý firn
Corn: granular, wet snow that’s pliable and easy to turn in (characteristic of spring or late-season snow) Czech: zrnitý rozmoklý firn
Crust: refers to a frozen layer either covering softer snow or buried under a fresh dusting of snow Czech: ledovatá kůra na povrchu sněhové vrstvy

Bail: to hurl yourself majestically to the ground in lieu of actually skiing Czech: velkolepý spektakulární pád
Bluebird: when blue skies follow a storm Czech: jasný chladný den po sněžení
Bomber: Slang term for a skier or snowboarder flying down a slope in an out of control fashion. Think your sporty friend who is good at everything and skiing in his first week, determined to be as good as you. Czech: kdo neumí lyžovat, šusuje rovnou dolů
Face shot: the act of beautiful, weightless snow flying up into your face when you turn (cosmic event; rare) Czech: vítr žene sníh do obličeje
First tracks: arcs cut through untouched snow; acquiring them has been known to cause tension among friends Czech: první jízda na nově upravené sjezdovce
Gaper: a usually new skier whose ignorance of the mountains and other skiers is noticeable; can be identified by the forehead gap between their helmet and goggles Czech: zelenáč na svahu
Steazy: achieved with style and ease Czech: elegantní styl jízdy
Stomp: to cleanly land a jump Czech: cool a čistý trik
Tomahawk: a cartwheel-like crash Czech: přemet, po kterém následuje pád
